The object is to raise half a million dollars for the famine victims in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya.

Anglican Aid is calling on the goodwill of all Sydney Anglicans for what it describes as “an extraordinary outpouring of compassion and generosity” to raise the money.Envelopes will be available again this Sunday on the Welcome Table at the back of the hall for your donations or you can click “appeal page” to donate on line.

7. John Stott (1921 – 2011)

“End of an era; and gratitude to God for his wonderful life!”
On July 27, 2011 John Stott went home to be with the Lord. He is now with the One who he served all his life and in whom he had total confidence.
John Stott impacted the church around the world in many ways. Perhaps his greatest contribution was to articulate clearly and to defend robustly the evangelical faith which he always understood to be biblical faith, grounded in the New Testament. Evangelicalism was to Stott an expression of historic, orthodox Christianity.

May his legacy continue to bear fruit. May his influence grow. May he ever be remembered as the Prince of Preachers of his day, and the friend of believers of all races throughout the world. Let us seek to honor Christ, and also to honor John Stott, through a life that is lived for the glory of God and for the good of the church and the world.

A memorial service for John Stott will be held at St Andrew’s Cathedral on Friday 5th August at 1:30pm – 2:30pm. The Archbishop Peter Jensen will be speaking.
